Artists Statement

As an artist I work primarily in pastels and I also paint in oils. I love the South Jersey landscape and its colors. There is a scene to paint wherever you look! The colors of the landscape compel me to create a moment that I experience in nature. Colors that I choose are not necessarily true to the natural world. There is excitement in the prospect of creating light, color, pastel strokes through an arrangement of forms and texture. I derive energy and happiness finding colors that come together to create a composition. I believe in the beauty of landscape of South Jersey and I try to capture the feel, colors and beauty in my paintings. My hope is that my images inspire and stimulate the viewers senses and capture a moment in time!
